The Hindrance Ordinance is one of the first ordinances that was made to limit the hindrance from business activities to the environment but also to neighboring residents. Together with zoning this is one of the most important instruments for government to regulate the hindrance that can be a consequence of these activities. F.e. if you have a landfill close to town and close to water you are obliged by this same law to implement all kind of regulations to limit the emissions, limit the pollution of the Great Salt Pond, have the dump sufficiently covered at all times etc. Unfortunately government never requested a permit and we see and smell on a daily basis the consequences
